New Foster
Silky

My name is Silky and I need a new home. My mom and dad are going to
Iraq and
have no where to leave me. I am 10 years young and very cat friendly as
I am living
with two now. I love children and big people and I really love to go on
walks or just
spend the day lazing around. Can you help me out.

GREYHOUND PLAY
GROUP RULES AND SAFETY TIPS
Provided by:
Greyhound Friends of North Carolina-Greensboro
Is
your greyhound lonely for the company of other greyhounds? Would you
like the opportunity to exercise
your grey in a large, fenced-in area while you enjoy the company of
other greyhound owners?
We have the solution!
A
Greyhound Playgroup is now meeting once a month on. The location is at
Meadow Sweet Kennels,
located at 5523 Greenville Loop Road.
All greyhounds, whether AKC or retired racers
from any adoption group – are welcome. You may drop in
at any time during the scheduled playtime.
Greyhounds
(and their owners) are a social group, so we anticipate that this will
be a greyt time for greyhounds
to run and play, as well for owners to socialize and “talk greyhound.”
Feel free to bring yourself a lawn chair
or blanket to sit on. There are no restroom facilities available. Water
buckets, wading pools, and
plastic poop
bags will be provided. You must provide your own muzzle. (I do
have some for sale).
Please be aware that accidents can happen. Based on the advise of
several well-established playgroups in other locales, we’ve established
these ground rules to promote the safety of greyhounds and their owners:
1. This playgroup is for greyhounds only. To promote peace on
the playing field, please leave dogs of other breeds at home.
2. Every greyhound must wear a muzzle any time it is within the
boundaries of the playing field.
3. For their own safety, small children are not allowed within the
boundaries of the playing field. Adults should also remain outside the
field unless they are designated “spotters”, or unless there is a
problem among the greys. Great care should be exercised when entering
the field, as greyhounds will tend to run in packs and the pack can
change direction at any moment.
4. In order to prevent dangerous collisions that might injure both
humans and greys, please do not use leashes while on the field. Greys
should be taken off leash at the entrance to the playing field after you
close the gate.
Re-leash greys as you prepare to exit the field.
5. The playing field is private property graciously loaned to us.
Please pick up after yourself and your hound.
SENSIBLE TIPS TO PREPARE
YOUR GREYHOUND FOR THE PLAYGROUP
Please note that greyhounds should not exercise heavily until at least
an hour after mealtime in order to minimize
the risk of bloat, a
dangerous condition in which the dogs' digestive tract becomes blocked.
Likewise, wit an hour after heavy exercise before feeding your
greyhound.
Keep
your greyhound’s toenails trimmed! It is easy for a dog with
“bearclaw-like” toenails to scratch
itself or another dog while running.
Plus, overly-long nails are more likely to be torn while running—a very
painful experience!
Remember, greyhounds are athletes! A short walk before entering the
field will allow your greyhound to warm up before running and thus will
lessen the chance of a muscle strain or similar injury.
Keep an eye on your greyhound while it is running to make sure that it
does not overheat.
If your dog seems to be over-exerting itself, please
remove it from the field in order to allow time to cool down.
