10 a.m. - 4 p.m.
2908-A Oak Ridge Road ~ Oak Ridge, NC 27310
It's our 21st Year and we are in the planning a GREYT event. Mark you calendars. DETAILS will be posted soon.
Invitation to all Past, Present and Perspective owners of Greyhounds to join us in our May Open House . This event is to raise funds to support our ongoing adoption program that includes the care of the greyhounds while awaiting adoption, veterinary expenses, shelter operational expenses and food. We highlight the day with live entertainment, vendors, demonstrations, Hound Cafe, Pet Therapy Bake Sale, Silent Auction, Blessing of the Animals, raffle tickets and last but not least, shopping and more shopping. I encourage you to attend and be apart of this exciting fund-raising day.
While the focus of the event will be on greyhounds, we encourage old and new visitors to the "greyhound world" and all leashed pets are welcome. Please remember that Greyhound Friends of North Carolina is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, so your contributions are tax deductible.
We are thrilled to announce that Dennis Tyler, GPA Central Florida, will be our quest speaker at Cinco de Mayo at 1 pm!
His presentation represents “Greyhound life at the track up close” and gives a look at things here when the dogs arrive until they leave for adoption. He will also be glad to answer all questions relative to racing and all my experiences over the last 23 years in adoption and 18 years at the Melbourne Greyhound Park track. We have transitioned 7,633 greyhounds into homes mostly from Melbourne as well as some from the 12 other tracks in Florida.
There are some write ups and more information on GPA Central Florida web site at http://www.floridagreyhounds.com/
Additional information about Dennis Tyler:
In the August 1 edition of “People Magazine”, Dennis Tyler & our group were featured in their “Hero’s among us” section .
In September, Dennis Tyler was chosen to be one of nine finalist for the “PEOPLE Readers’ choice Hero Campaign” sponsored by Jeep. The winning charity of the heros selected would receive $10,000.
GPA Central Florida did not have the most votes in the contest; HOWEVER,The Editorial staff for People Magazine voted to give several of the candidates the same donation of $10,000 thanks to the generosity of their sponsor, “Jeep”.
GPA Central Florida was one of their choices and we will receive $10,000 to help the greyhounds. We want to extend a "Big THANK YOU" to People Magazine, their Editorial Staff and Jeep for this award.
We also want to extend a "Special THANK YOU" to the National Greyhound Community, our members and family of friends for getting the word out and voting for the greyhounds Animal lovers from all over the country have supported us in this endeavor. The National exposure and focus on "Greyhound Adoption" has been priceless.
